Perfection is an illusion. We chase it in our appearance, our homes, our relationships and our achievements. Believing that if we can just get everything right, we’ll finally feel whole. But perfection is a moving target, that seems to drift just out of reach.
Perfectionism is heavy and it doesn’t create happiness, it creates exhaustion. The constant self-criticism and fear of failure keep us trapped in a cycle of never enough. When struggling ask yourself if it has meaning or will it help me to grow or learn, if the answer is no then let it go.
In embracing imperfection, we begin to see that our mistakes and struggles are not proof of failure, but evidence of effort and learning. Imperfection means we are still in motion, still becoming. And we see that we are all connected through the struggle.
There is wild beauty in imperfection, it’s where we breathe freely. Every blemish adds to your depth of heart. When we stop striving to be perfect we begin to see that what makes us human is our capacity to grow, love, to be kind to ourselves and others.
The truth is that perfection is not the destination or the journey. Every ones journey is different and at a different point in this lifetime and along all lifetimes. Share your real, messy, human self. Connection grows from and honesty.
