My Code of Professional Ethics as a Practitioner:
I agree to assist in maintaining the integrity and competence of the Hypnosis Profession by abiding by the following code of professional ethics:
- I will conduct all hypnosis sessions in a professional manner within a professional setting.
- I will obey all federal, state, and local laws and regulations concerning the practice of hypnosis.
- I will keep all matters between myself and my client confidential. No third party shall have access to information given to me by the client, except:
a) When the client has granted written permission to release private information.
b) When life is at risk by withholding private information.
c) When compelled by law. - I will maintain a responsible attitude in preserving the good name of the hypnosis profession through attention to my personal conduct.
- I will keep myself up-to-date with new material, methods, and innovations in the field of hypnosis.
- Before beginning any professional relationship, I will disclose to the client the nature and purpose of the session, the anticipated length, and the potential cost.
- If during a session I become aware that a referral or consultation with another professional would be appropriate, I will end the session and, if requested by the client, provide the referral or consultation.
- If I am working by referral from another professional, I will only perform the services specified in the referral and will terminate the relationship after such services are provided.
- I will terminate my relationship with a client when they can no longer benefit from continued service, and I will not provide services unless I have a good-faith belief that the client will benefit from them.
